Reginald La Vincient Wilson

From a small town in Mississippi, Reginald LaVincient Wilson always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, but like most little black boys growing up in the south, that dream seemed impossible.  Attending Delta State University in Cleveland Mississippi, Reginald earned his Master’s degree in Education and taught elementary school for 12 years before leaving to become a stay-at-home dad.  In 2011, Reginald and his husband Wesley left Mississippi and moved to Maryland to start a family.  That same year, they adopted their children.  Reginald started sewing only a few years ago when he was passed down an old singer sewing machine.  He quickly mastered sewing from patterns and in no time was sewing clothes for the whole family.  Before long he traded in his old, used machine for a much more professional machine.  After watching a few videos on draping, he purchased his first dress form and began sketching and creating his own designs.  He creates videos of his progress and encourages others to drape and create along with him on an app called NEXTDOOR.  His clothing line, LaVincient, is known by its signature purple and Silver logo.  He has expanded to doing men's garments, a line of home drapery and millinery.
